JORGE BOLET LISZT MASTERCLASS Robert Finley plays Bénédiction de Dieu dans la solitude
This Jorge Bolet Liszt Masterclass was given in the Library of Congress, Washington DC, 1986 as part of a commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the death of Franz Liszt. Unfortunately the video quality is very poor. But the quality of the audio is fine and Bolet's teaching style and words of wisdom shine through.
Pianist Robert Finley plays Liszt's beautiful Bénédiction de Dieu dans la solitude and receives invluable instruction from one of the greatest pianists and leading interpreters of the piano music of Liszt of the second half of the 19th Century. The detail of Bolet's teaching is amazing, the explanations brilliant, and one walks away with the impression of having had the most extraordinary lesson of one's own.
And once again, as is so often the case with these masterclasses, when the teacher demonstrates by playing a passage himself, my first reaction is to give up the piano and go into advertising. Hear for yourselves as Bolet plays the second half of this piece. The beauty of his playing is to die for.
