ELISO VIRSALADZE PLAYS CONCERTI
and chamber music

Eliso Virsaladze plays concerti and chamber music on this page.  There are compete and partial recording of works by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Schumann, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and Ravel.

Perhaps her greatest speciality was Schumann.  Certainly, she was much admired for her playing of this great composer by the likes of Sviatoslav Richter.  We are treated to three complete recording of his A minor concerto and a fourth of the last movement.

Look for Eliso Virsaladze's stunning performance of the Ravel left hand concerto at the end.  There are some fine shots of her left hand playing, though I would have preferred that the camera focus almost entirely on her left hand throughout.

The examples in which Eliso Virsaladze plays concerti by Mozart are exquisite.  There is no other word for her ability to combine clarity and strength without undermining the classical delicacy of this music.  They are among the very finest recordings of Mozart concerti I know.

As a special treat, I've included a recording of the Mozart three piano concerto as performed by Tatiana Nikolaeva, Eliso Virsaladze and Nikolai Lugansky.  While it is mpossible to know who is playing what, these are three of the great Russian school pianists playing a concerto we rarely hear, and playing it wonderfully.
